Lily's teachers are in for a hard time if they aren't obviously there to teach and look after the kids. Bree and I suffered quite a bit as kids at the hands of teachers who were either apathetic or cruel....

Schools in the uk, not so much in my time, had some real bastard hard teachers. They made the buildings feel like part of some sort of lock up. The places were dull, the lessons were pretty strict and any messing about and you'd get lynched and straight to the headmasters office. I remeber the first day at secondry school iirc I was 11. All the new kids were gathered in the main hall to meet the headmaster and his deputy, for a lecture on obedience. They told us about the concequences for failing to keep within the school rules.... you'd get the cane. On the table next to them, there was a large glass vase full of vinegar, and dipped in it were several 5 foot canes. Every Fridays morning assembly, that vase was on display on a window ledge, just to remind everyone.
It's all changed now. Schools and teachers are afraid to cause any sort of grief to a student for fear of retribution through the courts.
