i'm assuming you havent read the book by HG Wells..
the story took place at the turn of the century (1900) england.
it would make a brilliant period piece.
an emotional and thrilling centerpiece of the book was a battle between the tripods and an old battle ship - fending off the tripods until a passenger liner could escape ...
it never needed to be moved to america and modernized ...
(let alone the george pal religious propoganda bersion)
I want to see a british film with unknown actors that takes place in the proper time period - with the kind of budget that would do it justice.
