The origins of "tic":
Official version.
Comes from the word psychotic, lunatic, etc.
It also was the nick-name of a character I created in a book I was writing, based on the above.
Unofficial version
While in college me and three others where going to form a band "Pedantic Shaggamuffins"
Other extremably dubious version tic is short for "the ticster" a name which I used for a website, just hadn't the time to complete it /put it on line.
