I m against the whole versus series of movies...other than be mindless money-churners, they lack basic plotlines, good direction, casting and acting.
The only reason people watch it is to see their fav horror icons go at it. And the curiosity value of "who d win in such a situation?" Remember Howling VI? It sucked so bad people musta prayed to their gods never to visit another of those again...now we have a plethora of 'em hitting the theaters and dazzling the audiences with spoon-feeds of their inflated egocentric fights...
I sorta liked AvP with all its CGI and my two fav horror icons and all. But when I learnt that Cameron and Scott scrapped Alien 5, and McTiernan scrapped Predator 3 (which would have been WAY better and awesome movies) because of AvP, it went into my hate-list pretty quick.
FvJ was decent. Not great by any stretch of the imagination. But doesnt it look pointless to pit two icons who cannot be killed?
At least vampires and werewolves have their weak spots. Daylight, stakes, crosses, holy water, silver bullets, decapitation etc. etc. As was shown in Van Helsing, let 'em use their swiftness, brutality and form changing...maybe some good will come out of it.
As you can tell, I was really disappointed by Underworld Evolution.
