It's a brilliant French film. The mask the young woman wears was the influence for Carpenter's vision of the Micheal Myers mask.

and before people get all pissy and say "it was a Shatner mask" in the SCRIPT he described the mask worn by the "the Shape" as a blank, white, featureless mask.
