NOVA - we had the same thing in my area - about four popped up of the same company "Mr. Lister" they advertised on TV and radio and newspaper all the time and then suddenly went bust and locked their doors. . . it took several weeks and the involvement of the police for some people to get their stuff back from the locked stores - a real mess.
as for the scams, i'm always getting e-mails from "paypal" about my account security and the need to update etc. . . but i have NEVER used paypal in my life. . . so more phishing!
that said, i do have a lovely relationship with a diplomat's wife from kenya who promises to cut me in on their huge oil fortune once i get it out of the bank . . . then i'll open my paypal account
