The period costumes are good--not a large cast, so maybe that's not a tremendous accomplishment, but the costumes are good. The ghosty sound effects are pretty good too--there's just a lot more of that than the film needs, and you're pretty much hearing weird stuff all through the movie.

But man, when you see an obvious "morph" in a movie that's supposed to depict events happening in 1817, it looks pretty damn strange and it tends to pull you out of the period atmosphere everyone's spent so much time and money trying to put you in. Plus the film is influenced by the glut of eerie "ghost girls" popularized by recent creepy Japanese movies and their remakes.

Uninspired and meandering, at the end it tries to baffle us with some mysterious bullshit to obscure the fact that it basically has no story.
