Plus, the problem with having a load of films on your computer means you can only watch them at your VDU.

What do you mean? Simply burn them onto disc!

Ha - but a popular process that should be so simple proves to be hair-grabbingly complex.

Codecs... converters... burners... it's all given me a right fucking headache. Every single AVI > DVD program I've used has either failed or simply stopped working after a few burns (and not demo versions).

Lately, a film I thought had successfully converted and burned turned out to play the full soundtrack, but the visuals stopped 5 minutes early. As if the sound was running at a quicker speed to the film (checked all settings were at default and in synch).

Are some AVI files known to cause more problems than others, or are they all inherently the same if they come in this format?
