I don't know, Titanic just sails along in its own inoffensive and blockbusting way. I'll defend any man's right to switch off (no not the TV, comedians) and gaze idly at the box for a few hours while digesting his Christmas lunch - gimme Titanic over Harry Cunting Potter or Pearl Harbour any day.
Standout scenes: the ship going down, it breaking in two, the unfortunates crashing down and bouncing like ragdolls, and, especially, the eerie 'graveyard' where everyone is dead and floating.
Miami Vice is quality for its occasionally meaty storylines, cool music (where are you now Mr Hammer?) and nice atmospherics by Michael Mann.
The Sweeney is classic hardboiled British cop drama, like The Professionals (before it went a bit soft) and Juliet Bravo.
Er... scratch that last one...

re switching off .. as previously stated - i've taken a perverse liking to the latest Steven Segal efforts just to watch how they try in vain to hide how fat he is ..
(i will confess to liking harry potter movies though :))
pearl harbour was poop for sure ..
there is no doubt that titanic had some very effective moments .. my gripe was that had it just stuck to the actual reality of the events as they happened it would have been far more gripping.
the one moment in the film i really appreciated was when the people who made it to one end of the ship were hovering straight up in the air over everything below .. and one girl looked into the lead girls eyes as she was slipping ... and there was that crystal clear reality - understanding that they shared that the girl was going to die and there wasnt anything they could do about it ... and she quietly came to terms with it ...
it was a small moment but for me the most effective thing in the whole movie ..
and again.. i'm a big fan of David Warner so it was nice to see him ..
