Kid doesn't drown in the pond, but a girl does go for a swim in the pond and comes out with a severed hand around her ankle! :D
Plus the Witch in the film enjoys more painful ways to despatch people.

I don't wanna over hype it, but if you like early 80's stuff like The Kindred, I think you'll enjoy it.
