'Freak Accident' At ATM Kills Man
Orange Park, Florida -- A 63-year-old man was killed while using an ATM at the corner of Blanding Boulevard and Wells Road early Thursday morning. Clay County deputies called Willard Dalhite's death a freak accident.
Dalhite's body was found pinned in the partially open door of his pickup truck, which was wedged against the ATM unit in the Bank of America drive-through.
Investigators believe Dalhite had finished his transaction and may have dropped his receipt, then became trapped when he tried to pick it up and the truck moved forward. Deputies said Dalhite may have suffocated or suffered a heart attack while trapped.
Authorities told reporter Dan Leveton that Dalhite had some medical problems and used a walker. He may not have had the physical strength to free himself.
