Speaking for myself, people who make the "I'm back"/ "I'm leaving" threads only want to talk about one thing in that case - THEMSELVES. Bubbles burst, worlds collide, and egos shatter when it's suddenly revealed that nobody wants to discuss only you and your attempts to make them talk about you and only you. Unless you're going to do a long jail stint, missionary work, etc where you won't have computer access, there's no need for the "I'm leaving" threads. You choose not to be here ? Fine. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out, but don't bother waiting for everyone to rush to post the wanted "please don't leave us !" responses. That's asinine. When I eventually leave, I'll skip the drama and just not come back. Until that time, my new pic for all the "goodbye" thread starters will be:
