No, you're right... There are a few random diabolists who do indeed believe in and worship Satan as an actual existent entity. From what I've seen though, these people tend to be former Christians who want to rebel and flirt with the dark side, as actual Satanism has no concept of any deity whatsoever. And you're also right in that these people tend to use this as an excuse to do whatever they want regardless of the consequences and say that they were merely performing the "Dark Lord's" will. I'm thinking of Richard Ramirez, etc. here.
