Hang on, guys, I was thinking about this just yesterday.
What IS out that that remains frightening to many of us or has been released within, say, the past 10 years that was pretty frightening? I mean, I still don't like the part with Sloth sin in Seven, but I can totally deal with it. However, there's really not been anything, recently, that has made even the bravest of us have a tiny minute little twinge to cover our eyes.
The Ring was good, a little eerie, especially the death rictus upon the faces of Samara's victims. It wasn't the best, but it had it's moments. They did an okay job with the lighting too.
The plethora of neo-slasher flicks were shit. I still don't understand the appeal of Scream. I thought that was one of the worst piece of shit films I've ever seen. However, some people thought it was neat, and I won't fault them for it.
I haven't checked out "Stay Alive" as it just opened tonight, but I'm sure we'll hear something soon from our compadres.
etc...
I'm still waiting for that one new film that really has me up late o' nights.
