The Indestructable Man
I've been on a kick for these cheesy old detective/horror flicks for the last coupe days, and this was a pretty good one. Aside from Price and Lugosi, Id have to say Lon Cheney Jr. has to be my personal favourite old time horror star. He isn't exactly in top form here, though he does do a fairly decent job considering he only gets to say about 3 lines. For a film made in the mid 60's, I was surprised at how violent it was...not that I'm complaining or anything, but the scene at the roadblock was very violent for the time. The narrator, yet another hard-boiled LA detective, was a pretty good character for most of the film, though he became a bit of a jerk in the final scene. The ending was somewhat predictable, but Cheney Jr. pulled it off very well. The film did drag in some places however, and I didn't particularly care for the love interest. Overall, it was a good enough way to kill an hour and 10 minutes.
