I liked (and still do) the first Scream film a lot.
Sure, it borrowed relentlessly...but that was it's whole deal...behind that, I think they managed to string together a pretty decent plot, and some good twists, and a suitably menacing faceless killer.
It was funny, had a few extreme stereotype characters...and some that were just begging to get killed. Not to mention the whole "plot" that revealed itself over the last 20 minutes of the film, I loved that...and that the killers ended up being completely incompetent fucks in the end, their plan makes me laugh every time I watch it, but I have to admit, the first time I saw it, I thought "coooool".
The second was not too bad...had a few nice kill scenes, but seemed to have been more a cash in than anything, in the end. I still enjoyed it upon first viewing, and I liked the dialogue...as a sequel, it was "ok", no problems here.
The third one, I simply cannot enjoy, and I've tried to watch it around 3 times...the killers motive was so fucking water-thin, it's like they were just looking for any possible way to have yet another person want to kill sidney...seemed like every character in the series either got killed off or became an asshole. None of the fun of the last 2 films.
As for the "clones" that came out...I didn't mind the FIRST "I know" film, although I hated just about everyone in it. I think it had a slightly deeper plot, and a more scary atmosphere.
The sequel was complete shit, the first urban legend was ok up until the last half hour...the sequel to that, also shit..I understand there's a third film in the series now....don't know if I'll ever see that. Valentine...now there's a REALLY shitty film.
The rest aren't really noteworthy IMO.
