when scream first came out it was great, some what shocking, and when compaired to other feature horror films of the time quite brutal. wether you like it, love it, or hate it it helped breath life back into mainstream horror.

Ok, I just need to comment on
this. Now, I havent seen Scream, as Ive mentioned a few times around here. Looks to be a fairly decent film, I saw the last 10 minutes or so on TV. It's effect of the horror genre, however, is legendary. Helped breath life into it? How about helped create a half-assed, self-aware ressurection of the slasher genre? If by "helped breath life into it" you mean the quantity of horror films influenced by it, you have a point. However if you're saying the films that it influenced brought quality to the dying genre...if that's the case, I have nothing more to say to you.
