Well...I'll let it slide, I dunno about the rest of these damn savages though...
Losing weight...well, I've never been GREAT at it...making the kinda food I know how to make and all doesn't help.
One I've come across quite a few times is - don't eat anything that requires cooking past 5pm...not unless you're gonna excersize it off afterwards...sounds drastic, but is shown to work remarkably well.
From personal experience:
I myself kept in my best shape ever a few years back with muay thai boxing 3-4 times a week...but they DO work you pretty hard, and if you're not into regular excersize, your first month WILL be very difficult, and painful...I won't shit you there, but if you find yourself a good instructor, and see it through, you will become fitter than you've ever been. I'm never really stayed with any other martial arts quite long enough to see what their health benefits would be, I'd suggest trying a few things, seeing what works for you, all the while keeping in mind that it shouldn't be easy.
Other than that, I'd reccomend regular cycling, and the participation of family and friends, having someone to talk to only makes it go by easier.
Nothing deep fried, and HEALTHY snack foods only...you don't even wanna know how high in saturated fats most chips are.
Make sure you eat lots of fresh vegetables. Salads are great, so learn how to make a few that are worth eating without being smothered in mayo. Make your own dressings, light oil if any.
Eat fish, salmon, trout, swordfish...try a whole lot of them to find what suits you.
And yeah, chocolate doesn't help a great deal.
