As for other stuff, I guess Hammer's The Gorgon is the best of the mythological monster stuff I've seen.
But vampires, werewolves, etc could also be considered mythological (maybe even with roots in Classical Mythology, with Lilith and Lycurgus).
In my humble opinion even slashers could be considered modern mythology. They did evolve from boys telling stories over a fire at summer camp, and slumber-partying little girls telling tales of the guy hiding in the attic.
