I'm an old wrestling fan from way back (anyone remember tommy "wildfire" rich)? Or perhaps you can remember who the original satanist in wrestling was?
anyway, having met and chatted with several pro-wrestlers and seen the injuries and watched them walk and get up out of chairs believe me wrestlers are athletes who get hurt.
just because it's scripted doe not mean that it's "fake". I stopped watching wrestling when it stopped being about good versus evil, now it's degrees of popularity and who can be bad without being unpopular.
Remember when it was Ivan Koloff versus Ole Anderson or austin idol versus rick flair. Remember when buck "rock-n-roll" zumhoff was warring with bobby hennan? It was good versus bad; a titanic clear cut struggle. I was about the plot and story line; it was about booing for the bad guy and loving it when the good guy finally won -- it was melodrama object lessons.
Now, it's just like any other soap opera, only the sex happens in the ring and not in the bedroom.
Wrestlers are tough folks and extreme athletes(although I could never figure out how dusty rhodes never had a heart attack as huge as he was) and regardless of scripted or unscripted the good ones do deserve some respect.
