1970's Imitation Bacon Strips

Okay, okay, okay....someone old here has to have seen or had these things at some point...does anyone remember in the late 70's or very early 80's, these dough-like strips of gelatinous stuff (was it soy based maybe? not sure) that were basically a vegetarian bacon substitute? I believe it came frozen and looked something like strips of rubbery bacon, but it was artificial, it came out of a machine, sliced, and kind of oily...well, REALLY oily...

And you would fry this stuff up, just like bacon. It would get crispy and crunchy and kind of golden brown. It looked like it was made of plastic or something, and it tasted kind of like bacon and kind of not. I can't remember the goddamn name of the stuff! Ooo you gatta help me.

I'm not talking about "Sizzlean"--that was actually a reduced-fat bacon. No, these were totally vegetarian, but just as oily as real bacon. I imagine it was mainly created to sell to the veggie-conscious crowd.
