Did you know that in Sweden, they used to impale people by inserting the stake between the spine and the skin so that it would take up to a week for a person to die?
That's good impalement. I prefer the story about Ivan the Terrible (Some people say Vlad Tepes, but these things often get interchanged) who recieved this diplomat who was told to remove his hat. The diplomat says "in my country, it is rude to remove your hat at court." So, Ivan (or Vlad) says, "I wouldn't want you to be rude", so nails the guy's hat to his head.
