Then do something that won't be forgotten.
Do you think JFK or Martin Luther King or Ghandi or Neil Armstrong will ever be forgotten? Of course not.
Why not? Because they did something with their lives.
Do you think they sat around wasting their lives pondering things that can never truely be known? Or do you think they just went out there and did something remarkable?
What makes them any more special than you or me? The only difference between the people that are remembered and those that are forgotten is that the ones in the first group actually went out and
did something worthy of remembering.
I'm not saying you have to go change the world (Although we could use it) but if being forgotten is one of your big fears (Which I think it pretty obviously is.) then just do something to be rememberded. Write a book, make a movie, get in to politics, have a kid, bury a time capsule... Any mark you can leave on this planet that will be here after you're gone will allow you to remembered for years to come.
