Another good point, Austin.

While it is easy to suspend disbelief in film though, watching a movie is a more obvious, accepted form of deception - and most of them do not pretend to be "authentic".

It is interesting how more actual, competitive wrestling in Ultimate Fighting and the like lies at the other end of the spectrum since it is considered "extreme".

Where is the middle ground?

Surely a hands-on, grab-and-throw skill like wrestling can be sold to the public as a straight sport, minus the need for patronising pre-determined pantomime acts or unrestrained extremities?


Punch and Judy, now I can just about cope with that.
