I use a program to edit my music called "Polderbits", it is the greatest computer program of all time. (www.download.com ) Easy to use program. you can EQ, Edit, and take out Tape buzz. I use Great microphones. Share mic's. That's probably why the sound comes out crisp & clear.
When it comes to recording, its not what you use. But how much you know. How to mic the instrument, editing, EQ'ing, balancing sound.

I had a program called Cakewalk, the thing was a godsend, SO easy to use. But anything's better than the Casio I've had since I was a kid (even though that thing is hilarious).
It took me a good couple months to get the instrument come through the mic right. But sound balancing's really easy to tweak on Cakewalk (although I think the program's 100+ bucks).
