If you trail the underground and indie horror/exploitation scene, you can find a wealth of new talent coming up with all sorts of eye-opening work (you still need to wade through the dross of Romero ripoffs, though).
Sadly, these are destined to remain obscure so long as wealthy production companies can effortlessly reap rewards by giving teenagers another hip bogeyman or ironic take on a classic horror theme or icon.
Having said that, I'm quite happy for my interests to remain underground - imagine Scrapbook or Nekromantik playing to the multiplex crowds?
