On a serious note, it is human nature to become defensive about films/music etc. in "our day" when faced with a bunch of remakes designed primarily to cash-in on current trends and make glaring statements about current lack of creativity and imagination (that a remake may be "good/watchable" is not the point - every one that is released is one less original idea to make the screen).
When we start accepting remakes (and remakes of remakes) without scepticism, the genre is fucked much like throwaway boyband music and Euro-pop - covering and sampling old records - have ruined the music charts.
