I couldn't fathom that someone would ask this question, but then I remembered that the last new Evil Dead movie came out in '93. So if someone were under about 18 years old, they probably missed those movies completely, unless they truly were interested in the genre.
As far as the Bubba Ho Tep discussion is concerned, I don't really think they can be compared. Don't get me wrong, I loved Bubba Ho Tep, and thought it was one of Bruce Campbell's greatest performances (other than Brisco County Jr.), but I would never in a million years compare it to the Evil Dead trilogy. The quick-cut editing techniques that are so popular these days (which are used in B.H.T. among about a million other films) were pioneered by Raimi in the Evil Dead series. Basically, I just think that the Evil Dead films were more revolutionary than Bubba Ho Tep (even though I do think B.H.T. was original itself, but it was based on a book, so the author of the book is original, not the director).
