If a critic blurb refers to it as "scarier than" something, chances are it'll (at least attempt to be) more of a tension-based psychological horror. If it says "more scares than" then it will be a jumpy, startling-based horror. So just pay more attention to what the critics say in the trailers, the wording, not the opinion.
