Decapitated Fetus Found By Young Boys

South Africa - A decapitated fetus with both legs also missing was found in Wyebank Road in Pinetown yesterday.

Just after 5pm, two boys, aged seven and nine, were playing when they noticed a foul smell.

On investigating, they found the fetus, with the umbilical cord still intact, lying beside the road.

The boys told their parents who in turn alerted the Pinetown police.

Police found no trace of animal saliva on the body, which is believed to have been lying at the roadside for four or five days.

They are not ruling out the possibility of witchcraft as the head and legs were severed from the body. Details of the sex, age and cause of death would be released after a post mortem has been conducted.

Police have opened a murder investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to telephone them at 031 325 5085.

Yesterday's incident comes after a Mtubatuba woman, 30, gave birth to twins last Friday and then allegedly threw them down a pit toilet.

The woman was arrested on charges of concealment of birth and two charges of murder and is set to appear in court in KwaMbonambi.

She allegedly wrapped the newborns in a towel, placed them in a plastic bag and threw them down a pit toilet.
