Carpenter,Romero,Argento ect. ect. came up with the ideas and pitched,wrote and directed the film they wanted to make and made them with passion because it was something they believed in. That is very true. There is a completely different kind of energy to a horror film made by an actual fan of the genre than to one made by someone that has no love or real understanding of horror. Even when the film isn't that great, it just feels different when it is made by someone that loves what he/she is doing.
