I think my dog killed a spider once.... A small one.

Haha, my german shepherd intercepted a funnel web that was lunging at me once, chewed it up, and swallowed it whole, true, they ARE able to process the venom better than we are without dying, he still got sick, and a sore mouth for a couple days, so I considered his act no less significant...aggression shown in nature aside, they interact with humans VERY well.
I have never had a better purebred dog than this. Intelligent, beautiful, fine looking animal, fast learner, obedient, respectful and loyal to the point they'd die protecting you.
I grew up with a FEW of them, but, man, I got such great memories of that one dog...
Oh, what was the topic again?
Dog eats squirrel...Seems to me it'd be a pretty stupid squirrel to actually get caught by a dog, and a hunk-o-chunk dog like that...borderline retarded...I mean how hard is it? Go up into a fucking tree...
Admittedly though, I'd hate to have been put in the situation, I always try and rescue the wounded creatures I find, I've had it go both ways for me, but there's only so much you can ever do.
Don't feel bad.
And, yeah...look, it's dissapointing that this happens, but its just something that some dogs do...a lot of the time trying to establish a "safe" zone around your "territory", rather than the cats "gift" thing, it's true though, if you're not one of them (eg - dogs, and you...and on the odd occasion, family cats with be accepted into the fold along with you), you are a threat/challenge.
Dogs are pack animals for the better part, and generally, as the owner/family, you're it.
