Lacking real percussion instruments here, I did some experimentation with hitting things with sticks and so on, and I found that if I hit my wall-mounted gas heater sharply with my finger, it makes a satisfying "THUMMMMMM!" sound that sounds very dramatic and spooky. It even records well. Anyone hit any interesting objects lately?
Maybe I should rephrase that...
