It's most likely from falling over numerous times as a child...I don't know if there's any part of me I've knocked around more than my knees and elbows...
In fact, there's a theory out there that the majority of people have sustained so much damage to their elbows over time that they can barely feel the skin upon them anymore...because it's layer upon layer of gradually collected scar tissue.
I know this is the case for me, because I can grab my elbow skin and squeeze like there's no tomorrow, and not feel a thing.
This reminded me of onr more I have...(told u there was plenty), when I was about 12, I would occasionally skateboard, not proffesionally or anything, I'd just cruise, and sometimes do the "luge" thing with it down hills against my friend.
So, this one time, I was going down a very steep, long hill...and right at the point that you start going so fast, the thing shakes like crazy, and you're going too fast to really turn very hard, I hit a stick, It more or less tripped the board up, and I literally flew maybe 8-9 feet foward, and landed on my elbows and knees.
I was completely winded, so I lay on my side recovering...when I got up, I thought it was funny that I couldn't feel anything.
It was the shock thing again.
My elbows and knees were SO skinned... and I had grevel 'n random road shrapnel inbedded in EVERYTHING.., I went home, and started picking it out. I had done both my elbows and disinfected them, and my right knee, and when it was time to do my left knee, I slowly started feeling again.
Hoooboy it hurt, and picking gravel and glass out of it was just the most fucked up thing...I was seeing craters left where I was pulling things out.
So, there was this one BIG peice, well, not real big, just significantly bigger that the others. when I pulled it out, after a little resistance, blood started oozing outta the deep hole it left almost immediately, an my knee started aching...I figure it might've hit bone or something, but yknow, nothing was broken.
Pulling the rocks n stuff (especially that one) out of my knee after starting to feel again was the worst. Then disinfecting it wasnt too much better.
My knees and elbows were scabbed and bruised purple for like 3 - 4 weeks.
The "big" rock left a scar right under the kneecap.
