1. Ryan Renolds was OK, but not very good, while James Brolin played the part amazingly. The George character was better even aside from the acting in the original, IMO, because at first, he was a nice guy who slowly decended into madness, while in the remake, he was a jackass to start.
2. In the original, more was left to the imagination. It never told you why the house was haunted, it just sorta
was. I find that much creepier than semi-decent looking CGI ghosts in a movie like this.
3. Father Delaney was one of my favorite parts of the original, and he hardly had a cameo in this one. His scene in the house when it tells him to Get Out is one of my all time personal favorite scenes.
4. In the original, I liked how the house cut them off from the outside world, by screwin' with the phone lines, and sickening those who entered. None of this is in the new.
