There's a really good scene with them in it on Hype! with them pressing there own LPs and playing one of their songs (that shit gives me goosebumbs!). But yeh if your into anything like Neil Young or The Sonics definatley check it out 'cause I think they've become my all time favorite band.
I think Mudhoney and Fugazi depends on the albums you have some are a lot easier to get into than others. I found the first two Fugazi EPs were a good start (Now both together on the CD 13 Songs) because In on the Killtaker is a really abrasive album until it grows on you but the first two EPs have stuff like Waiting Room, Suggestion and Give the Cure which have a really good catchey groove to them.

I've heard that early Soul Asylum is really good but I've kinda been put off by the whole "Runaway Train" thing....

A band that doesn't get the respect it deserves for pretty much starting the whole grunge scene is Husker Du. Zen Arcade is an album I'll be trashing till I'm grey, old and deaf!
I'll have to keep an eye out for Dead Moon ..
Neil Young is a source of national pride here in Canada. (despite the fact that he hasnt lived here in years)
I have a signed book by his dad Scott Young - a well known author here.

re Husker Du .. Zen Arcade and a few others are in my vinyl collection as well ..

you definately have to check out Soul Asylum - 'made to be broken' .. 'clam dip and other favorites' .. 'hang time'...
You wont recognize them as the Runaway Train guys ..
Thats when i stopped listening to them ..

Saw them twice .. both times were the loudest concerts i ever saw - ears rang for 2 days later ..
