I didnt read the thread but my views on torture are this...
If someone is found guilty of rape, cut off their balls. They won't do it again. It's not torture, it's prevention.
If some commits multiple or mass murder, fuck yeah. Make them suffer. But I think that the families of the victims (aka those most hurt by this individuals disregard for human life.) should have a hand in it. Whether it be them deciding on what type of suffereing to inflict or actually inflicting the suffering upon the murderer himself. It is fair and just.
I know if some fuck killed someone I cared about, I would be more than willing to inflict approriate punishment upon them and if the courts backed me up, then thats all the better.
