O.K., here's the problem.... the most intelligent person you know has all these issues.
You need to:
A. consider the source-- is this person a genius because they get excellent grades, or has money, or is well-read, or is successful in some way? There are many kinds of intelligences. I'm not sure if narcissism is an intelligence.
B. get out into the world-- great intelligence does not, in fact, lead to "self destruction." You're confusing cause with coincidence. You may have a narrow view of the world at this point but discovery will eventually lead you to possibility.
Or a pit of woe and despair.
Either way...
