That was Pascal's argument. You have nothing to lose by believing in God except a few fleeting pleasures. And if you're right, you get into paradise. But if you're wrong and he does exist...
I don't care if someone goes to church every sunday for spiritual support but indulges in a few hypocritical pasttimes; if religion helps someone get through life and/or be a better person, hey, more power to them. A little religion is good for some people. Too much makes them nuts.
