Predator was a fine movie. MOre than teh actual storyline, the reason it's endured is the fantastic creature design. If the creature would have sucked, the movie wouldn't be the genre classic it's considered.
Have the sequel(s) utilized the creature design in the best possible storylines? No, not really. Predator 2 would have been good if I wasn't a sequel. It was just a rehash of the first one except it transplanted the Predator to the city.
I think there are still some good Predator stories to be told. The comics have proven that. It's just finding the right director to get behind it. (And Paul W.S. Anderson is definitely not that director. That guy should be shot on sight if he's even seen within a mile of a movie studio.)
