There were things in the 1978 version that i found creepier than the origional. In some cases - colour does add more atmosphere.

Wasn´t it also the thing the aliens screamed that was more frightening in the 78 version.
Wasn´t the 78s "NOOOOOOOB"!!! more scary than "Become one of us" or what the hell the line was in the first one..?
