My heart bleeds, but not that much I'm afraid - the purpose of coaxing money out of people through tugging at heartstrings is fair enough, but I am starting to hear every rock star (fuck off Bono... that's all I can say) and movie star getting all thoughtful and distant as they try and comprehend the suffering...
To put a finer point on it, events like the World Trade Centre destruction and this recent killer wave are solid gold for celebrities - they get to thrust themselves in the public eye again, and nobody can complain as they are encouraging their followers to give aid.
Their own bank balances shooting through the roof when their charity appearances have finished and they are all popular again shouldn't matter, but this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Tsunamsploitation.
I say again, I can't stand Bono - Sir Bob is a bit more palatable.
