Hey Classic I just read your post on Georges Melies and I am glad you know he was a Magican before he became a film maker. There have beena few Magicans who became movie makers in the late 1890s and early 1900s Georges Melies Harry Houdini like Melies owned his own movie studio. And George Albert Smith and Walter R Booth just to name a few. Melies is famous for making the 1st movie studio in the Parisian suberb of Montreuil. He is also credited as being the 1st film director. He was also called the King of the Phantasmagoria the Jules Verne of the cinema and the Magican of the screen. Of course Meiles movie influences were Thomas Edison inventor of movies and Louis Lumiere. If you think about it Willis O Brian couldnt have made The Lost World or KingKong had it not been for Georges Melies. After all Melies invented stopmotion and Willis O Brian used it for his movies. And your right Melies inventes Special effects in movies which is what made him diffrent than Edison. Just imagine back then when you made a movie that was 10 or 12 minutes long thats what we consider a 3 hour movie to be like today.
