I posted this a while back. It's part of a small interview from a local magazine. It's translated from Dutch. In this, Carpenter says he was approached to direct the Hellraiser/Candyman movie, but says he declined:
Question: There are rumors they're planning a remake of your biggest classic 'Halloween' in Hollywood?
Carpenter: They didn't ask me. They did ask me if I would be interested in a monstermovie where Pinhead from Hellraiser would battle with Candyman. It would be something like Freddy vs Jason. I kindly declined.
Question: In a recent interview you have complained that you barely get any work in Hollywood. You even threatened to retire and only smoke dope & watch porn from now on.
Carpenter: I meant that half-ironically. But I admit: It isn't as fun as it used to be. I'm not planning on making any more movies, unless someone gives me a fortune.
