It's a strange thing, but I actually think The Green Mile appeals mostly to females, and I'm not quite sure why. Perhaps it's the emotionality it creates...
I loved this film. Wouldn't class it as "horror" though.
And I love Stephen King too - his early books, as far as I'm concerned, are the ones to remember him by. I'm prepared to forgive him for some of his later efforts because he's been so prolific in telling some great yarns over the years.
I'd agree that some of his books have become something of a joke once they hit the screen, with the possible exception of Kubrick's The Shining - and King didn't like the finished product because he thought it veered too far from his original story.
