I don't really bother with noobs UNTIL they have something good to say...so I don't generally end up "bashing".
Way back when, in my first incarnation here, I never posted in the new members thread. Guess I never said anything stupid enough to get whupped either.
I think the general ball-busting that goes on in the noobs initial thread is quite ok...it's nothing THAT inflammatory, and unless you're an idiot, you'll pretty much see that it's just yknow messin' around to gauge how you take it.
Of course if you react with great offense, start arguing seriously, or complaining about how everyone hates you, the assumption will be that you're an idiot and hence the fire will be fuelled - the members WILL keep at it, and you'll either quit their cryin' or end up leaving.
However, this kind of thing can easily be avoided just by being good natured, OR smart enough to see the initial bashing and knowing how to take a joke.
These are the kind of posters that we WANT, right?
What I DON'T like is the "just past noobs" that don't "get" the whole process, and think that the idea is to attack a noob in any way possible, doing so while still trying to "prove themselves"...these are generally the ones that follow the noobs into their OTHER threads, or where they post, to remind them again and again how much that what they say doesn't matter...etc because they're a stupid fucking noob.
This is not cool.
There's a point where it goes from ball-busting to malicious, and this could potentially lose the members that have had the balls/brains to get through their initial "bashing", because if they think it's gonna go on and on, they're not going to wanna stay.
I won't bother mentioning names, I'll just say that it'd be better to productively post rather than go after noobs in a stalker type fashion.
So yeah...I see no problem with giving the noobs a little shit...like it or not it IS a good way to gauge their personality/demeanor.
There's a point that it stops...some people just need to realise when that is.
Also, I didn't see the battered woman picture, but I'd agree with that kind've thing NOT being posted in here...ever, and along with cock picks, that should be established as a bannable offence.
