You can bring your children up any way you deem safe and fit, etc. But that doesn't mean they aren't going to be exposed to questionable content, and turn out the way you want them to.

When it comes to their well being damn right i'm a control freak. But when the child is a minor, it is your job as a parent to control their access to "questionable content". We aren't talking about parenting in general.
If not letting a child do whatever they want is considered sheltering, then so be it. If there are rules and structure, they will have more respect and trust in you. Consistancy is the key to that. Sheltering to you could mean something different then it does to me, but i'm not gonna raise my girls under a rock, if that's what you think.
