This explains alot.
Anyway, I saw it for the first time a few hours ago. If you listen to Richard Kelly's commentary on the DVD, he explains a little more about what's going on (that's what commentaries are for y'know). Like how everyone in the movie are being manipulated. Manipulated by what or who is a mystery, but being manipulated nonetheless to guide Donnie and help prevent the end of the world.
