Going to see The Village?
My wife and I, and a few of her employees, are planning on going to see The Village tonight. I just thought I'd list a couple of my hopes and fears here:
Hopes: 1. It's scary. Shyamalan, for all he's worth, is actually pretty good at building atmosphere and tension. 2. It's good. And by this I mean acting, storyline, setting, cinematography, that sort of thing. A movie can be easily ruined if any one of these things are horrible.
That's it for the hopes.... which I pretty much have for any horror movie I go to see.
Fears: 1. Well ... the opposite of the above. It's not scary and bad. That's my biggest fear. 2. It will turn into another Signs with a preachy message about faith. That would really piss me off. 3. It will be anticlimactic. After The Sixth Sense, Shyamalan has tried to make his endings exciting. But they have sucked. Unbreakable and Signs both should have ended differently. Particularly Signs. That fuckin' rubber alien was a big pussy. Man. That sucked. The Village better not suck! Thankfully, the theater manager is going to get us a deal on tickets. Yay!
