Yeah, they do it for the money. The only way to fix it is if horror fans start demanding higher quality from their films. Don't pay a red cent for a pile of shit, and pretty soon they'll realise that they need to start taking us seriously if they want to continue to get our money.
I think the trend has already started, though. If you notice, production companies will squeeze out a steamy turd and put it in a good-lookin' cover box. Of course, this is because they know that if it at least looks like a good horror film, some dupe will rent it (like me .... *sigh*). So, educate youselves before you rent ... browse review sites and read up on the film before you pay for it, in any form.
This is what I have started doing, and have found that I have been less and less disappointed. Of course, my wife manages a Blockbuster, so I get to see some real crap without having to pay for it. He he he he he.
